I continued my photoshoot with model Nicole Jearis using natural light. Then I applied Dani Diamonds' retouching techniques on the images shot.
Even though I tend to shoot my cinematic headshots in this location, I realized that the weather condition and distracting backgrounds were problematic when taking portraiture. When I saw Dani Diamonds' images on his website, I noticed that he often uses shaded urban locations, producing soft light on his subjects with interesting background colours. Unfortunately, this was not the case with me in my site, a fully exposed park with a little shaded area in the middle. Don't get me wrong. This park is wonderful and has some beautiful sights, yet poor maintenance from the administration, causing it to be a bad location.
The other challenge I faced was the blown-up highlights on my subject and the background due to harsh direct sunlight in the unshaded park.
The next time I shoot in this location, I will definitely shoot in the shaded area and use the sunlight as a backlight for my subject.
