How to Shoot Music Album Covers

I got a call from my friend rapper Hussein Romani aka Manello. He wanted images for his music album cover to use on social media platforms. I was unsure what theme to shoot, but I sensed he wanted something to do with lighting gels.

I managed to shoot different themes, starting from simple plain low-key, and high-key images and moving toward more colour complement coloured gel photos. You will find most of the themes in this blog series.

The first theme is a low-key one-light setup.

I cropped the image to get a 1:1 aspect ratio, the standard for a music album cover.
