007, an MI6 field agent with a license to kill. Who does not love him? Inspired by James Bond, I wanted to create a cinematic low-key high-contrast ratio image. I envisioned a slash of light passing through my friend Ali AlKhayat. I was short on time and needed to make the slash of light on a budget without much equipment. The easiest solution was to shoot using a Speedlight without a modifier and digitally add the slash of light in Adobe Photoshop. It worked perfectly.
It's always better to create lighting effects naturally to get the actual colour gradient and feel to the image, just like cinematographers do. However, desperate time calls for desperate measures.
